Bisons Swept by UNA

FLORENCE, Ala.North Alabama finished the three game series with Harding on Sunday with a 11-8 win over the Bisons. Harding dropped to 11-8 while the Lions improved to 12-3. The Lions had only one more hit than the Bisons (13-12) but took advantage of a late surge at the plate.

UNA went ahead 8-0 in the bottom of the fourth after six hits and a Bison error. Harding answered back in the top of the fifth with seven runs off of seven hits including a two-run homer be Aaron Roberts – his fifth on the season. The Bisons scored another run in the sixth to tie it up.

With an 8-8 score going into the bottom of the eighth inning, four Lions got hits to score three runs. Harding could not catch up and lost the game, 11-8.

Trey Mitchell (1-1) earned the win for North Alabama. Mitchell pitched four and a third innings and struck out three batters, allowing one run. Jeff Schafer started the game for the Lions and struck out nine batters. Gilbert Tellez (1-1) took the loss for the Bisons.

J.D. Glenn led the Bisons with three hits and three RBI. Cody Mitchell was 4-for-4 at the plate for the Lions.

The Bisons continue their road stint with games at West Florida in Pensacola, Fla., on March 4-5. The game starts at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
