PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Bison baseball team lost its fourth straight game Tuesday night against West Florida. The Argos won the game, 12-5, after scoring at least two runs in each of the last four innings. Harding's record is 11-9 and West Florida improved to 10-12.
The Bisons led off the game with an unearned run in the first inning and then a three-run homer by Randall Hunt in the second inning. It was Hunt's first career home run for Harding. West Florida also scored three runs in the second.
With a 4-3 lead, Harding stalled at the plate while the Argos went ahead on a two-run homer by Greg Pron in the bottom of the fifth inning. West Florida proceeded to score three runs in the sixth and two in both the seventh and eighth innings. The Bisons had the bases loaded and scored only one run in the eighth.
Harding had 10 hits and West Florida had 12. Hunt, Matt Stevens, and Bo Whitaker each had two hits for the Bisons while Brandon Brewer led the Argos with three hits.
Todd Stannard grabbed the win for UWF with four innings of work and no runs allowed. Troy Keith took the loss for the Bisons. Keith started the game and pitched five innings, striking out six batters and allowing five runs.
The Bisons will play the Argos tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Pensacola.
