Harding Snaps Skid, Sweeps Central Baptist

SEARCY -- The Harding Bisons broke their four-game losing streak Tuesday, defeating Central Baptist 11-2 and 15-2 in a doubleheader at Jerry Moore Field. Harding pounded out 25 hits in the sweep.

In the first game, Central Baptist took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second, but in the bottom of the inning, Harding scored six runs on five hits, including a two-run double by junior J.D. Glenn. The Bisons added four more runs in the sixth inning.

Senior Bo Whitaker hit 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and junior Aaron Roberts batted 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a run.

Junior Dakota Gardner (2-1) pitched seven innings and struck out six to earn the win, and Brad Thomas took the loss.

In the second game, most of Harding's offense came in a nine-run fourth inning that featured three Central Baptist pitchers and three errors. Harding had 15 at-bats in the inning, collecting only three hits -- two of them one-run singles by Roberts.

Roberts collected three hits in the second game and scored three runs. Senior Ben Rodriguez hit two triples and finished with three hits and 2 RBIs.

Senior Kenny Barnett (2-1) pitched five innings with five strikeouts in the win, and Justin Free allowed six earned runs in 3.1 innings in the loss.
