HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Harding University volleyball team took the court Friday afternoon in the UAH Invitational defeating the Wolves of West Georgia in three sets (25-12, 25-20, 25-21) and the Patriots of Francis Marion in four sets (25-21, 25-20, 21-25, 25-19). The two wins move the Lady Bisons to 4-2 on the season.
In the sweep of West Georgia, junior outside hitter Manuela Nesheva had 12 kills and seven digs for the Lady Bisons. Senior setter Leah Tepe and junior outside hitter Sarah Phipps joined Nesheva with seven digs. Harding had 38 kills and 44 digs against the Wolves. Last season, West Georgia ended the Lady Bisons season in the first round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
Senior middle blocker Shellie Rummer led the way in the second game against the Patriots having 17 kills for the Lady Bisons. Nesheva picked up her second double-double on the season with 13 kills and added 10 digs. Phipps added 16 kills for the Lady Bisons. Senior setter Leah Tepe picked up 49 assists for Harding. The Lady Bisons had 61 kills and 53 digs in the match.
The Lady Bisons will be back in action tomorrow afternoon taking on the West Alabama at 1 p.m. and then taking on host team Alabama-Huntsville at 5 p.m.
