Bisons Lose Late to UAM

SEARCY — Harding was able to pull off a conference upset on Thursday, but the Bisons were couldn't repeat the performance on Saturday, losing to Arkansas-Monticello 63-59 at the Rhodes Field House.

Harding (12-6, 2-3 Gulf South Conference) took a 54-51 lead on a three-pointer on the right baseline by sophomore Sam Brown with 2:11 remaining. Sophomore Kevin Brown extended the Bisons lead to five points on a pair of free throws with 1:29 left, but Arkansas-Monticello (15-3, 4-1) began to rally.

Bernard Seymour hit a three-pointer to narrow the Bisons lead to 56-54, and teammate Deron Brown scored another three-pointer to give Arkansas-Monticello a one-point lead with 44 seconds left.

The Bisons defeated Christian Brothers 75-74 in overtime on Thursday, but were unable to make shots in the last minute against Arkansas-Monticello.

Harding had a chance retake the lead, but junior Trent Morgan missed a three-pointer and senior Steven Barnett missed a layup later in the possession. Arkansas-Monticello continued to extend its lead via the free-throw line, and although Morgan hit a three-pointer with two seconds left, it was not enough.

Raymond Wright led Arkansas-Monticello with 26 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Deron Brown added 11 points for the Boll Weevils.

Sam Brown led the Bisons with 18 points, and Morgan scored 14 points and had 8 rebounds.

Harding made 4 of 9 three-pointers in the first half and led 35-26 at halftime.
