SEARCY – The Harding volleyball takes the court Thursday night hosting Arkansas-Monticello in a key Gulf South Conference matchup at 7 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House. Harding heads into the match with a 24-6 overall record and 8-1 GSC West Division record.
UAM is currently in second place in the GSC West Division standings right behind Harding who is in first place. Whoever wins the West Division will host the GSC Tournament Nov. 13-17.
When the two teams met earlier this season, the Lady Bisons beat the Cotton Blossoms, 3-1. Harding leads the series 9-0.
Harding is led by senior outside hitter Manuela Nesheva who averages 4.24 kills per set, ranking her second in the GSC and fifth in NCAA Division II. The Lady Bisons defense is led by junior Emily Tate who averages 4.65 digs per set, ranking her second in the GSC. Tate currently leads the GSC in service aces per set, averaging .50 a set.
The Cotton Blossoms (13-15, 7-2 GSC West Division) are led by Cayla Knapp who averages 2.26 kills per set. UAM has five players that average over two kills per set. The Cotton Blossoms swept Southern Arkansas Tuesday night for their seventh GSC win, breaking a team record for conference wins in a season.
