Errors Doom Lady Bison Volleyball

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Harding volleyball team was swept by Henderson State on Thursday night in Gulf South Conference action, 3-0. It was the first GSC loss for the Lady Bisons which fall to 17-3 on the season. The Lady Reddies remain the only undefeated team in the GSC West Division.

Harding had 21 hitting errors in the match and only hit for a .104 percentage.

The Lady Reddies came out of the gate going up 4-0 in the first set. The Lady Bisons fought their way back in it and took a 12-10 lead. Henderson State went on a 4-1 run to take back the lead and didn't look back taking the first set, 25-21.

The second set was much like the first, the two teams battled for the lead until halfway through when the Lady Bisons gave up four of the five points due to errors. HSU took advantage of the errors and closed out the set, 25-17.

Harding lost the third set, 25-12.

Senior outside hitter Manuela Nesheva led Harding, picking up a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs. Junior Emily Tate led the Lady Bisons with 16 digs. Senior outside hitter Sarah Phipps added 10 digs for Harding.

The Lady Reddies had two players in double-figure kills, leading the way was Robin Law with 13. GSC kills per set leader Tatiana Kuhn picked up 12 kills and nine digs in the match. Bethany Wright and Shannon Todd both had 14 digs for the Lady Reddies.

Harding is back in action at home next Tuesday as they host Ouachita Baptist at 7 p.m., in the Rhodes Field House.
