DENTON, Texas – The Harding volleyball team completed the sweep of the Texas Woman's Tournament as they beat East Central, 3-1 and host team Texas Woman's, 3-0. The Lady Bisons improve to 7-2 on the season.
In the first match against East Central, the Lady Bisons fell behind early dropping the first set, 25-13. Harding quickly battled back and took the next three sets for the win, 25-20, 25-14 and 25-13.
Senior outside hitter Manuela Nesheva led the Lady Bisons with a season high 27 kills and 10 digs. Nesheva hit for her highest hitting percentage of the season hitting 27 of 54 with five errors for a .407 percentage. Sophomore Emily Tate continued to lead the Lady Bisons on defense with 22 digs in the match. Sophomore Amber Parker added 17 digs to the Harding total of 68.
The Lady Bisons swept host team Texas Woman's in the second match of the day, 3-0. It is the first time this season Harding has won by a score of 3-0.
The Lady Bisons defense held the Pioneers to a season low .043 hitting percentage. Texas Woman's had 23 kills on 115 attempts with 23 hitting errors. Three Harding players had double-figure digs, leading the way was senior outside hitter Sarah Phipps who had 12 digs. Tate and Parker each had 11 digs for the Lady Bisons.
Nesheva led Harding in offense with 15 kills.
The Lady Bisons will play their first home match of the season Tuesday hosting Rhodes College at 7 p.m.
