Volleyball Heads to Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team hits the road Tuesday as they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Ouachita Baptist in Gulf South Conference action at 7 p.m. The Lady Bisons have won their last three GSC matches. They look to improve on a 9-8 overall record and a 4-1 GSC West Division record.

Harding holds the upper hand in the series, 45-21. The Lady Bisons have won the last 18 matches against the Lady Tigers. The last time Ouachita Baptist beat Harding was Oct. 19, 2000, in Arkadelphia. Last season at Ouachita Baptist, the Lady Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead but Harding battled back and won the match 3-2.

The Lady Bisons are led by a hard-hitting duo comprised of freshman outside hitter Mollie Arnold who averages 3.97 kills per set, ranking her third in the GSC and sophomore outside hitter Reagan Smith who averages 3.07 kills per set, ranking her seventh in the GSC.

Senior defensive specialist Emily Tate leads the Lady Bisons on defense averaging 4.93 digs per set, ranking her fourth in the GSC. Junior middle blocker Alex Smith leads Harding at the net with 39 blocks.

Ouachita Baptist heads into the match with a 12-5 overall record and a 1-4 GSC West Division record. The Lady Tigers jumped out to an 11-0 start this season. OBU's only conference win came against Arkansas-Monticello earlier this season.

The Lady Tigers are led by Megan Askew who averages 2.40 kills per set. Libby Merritt isn't far behind her averaging 2.21 kills per set. OBU has three players that average over three kills per set, leading the way is Kaitlyn Mitcham who is averaging 3.28 digs per set.

Ouachita Baptist leads the GSC in digs per set with an average of 18.52. Harding is second in the GSC averaging 17.07.
