SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team hits the road on Thursday as they travel to Magnolia, Ark., to face Southern Arkansas at 7 p.m., in Gulf South Conference action. The Lady Bisons are currently in a three-way tie with Christian Brothers and Arkansas Tech for first place in the GSC West Division after winning four straight conference matches.
After going 5-1 in the first half of the GSC West Division schedule, Harding looks to finish strong in the second part. The Lady Bisons only loss came against Arkansas Tech in Russellville 3-2.
When Harding faced Southern Arkansas earlier this season in Searcy, the Lady Bisons walked away with a 3-0 win. Harding leads the series between the two teams, 35-27.
The Lady Bisons (10-8 overall) are led by freshman outside hitter Mollie Arnold who is averaging 3.95 kills per set, ranking her second in the GSC. Senior defensive specialist Emily Tate, GSC West Division defender of the week, leads the Harding defense averaging 5.05 digs per set, ranking her third in the GSC.
The Lady Muleriders (11-8, 2-4 GSC) have four players that average over two kills per set. Leading the way is Becca Pate who averages 2.63 a set. Kahli Remy leads the Southern Arkansas defense, averaging 3.42 digs per set.
