Volleyball Falls to Arkansas Tech 3-0 in Key GSC Match

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team fell to Arkansas Tech 3-0 on Thursday in Gulf South Conference action at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons fall to 12-9 overall and 6-2 in the GSC West Division.

With the win, Arkansas Tech moved into first place in the GSC West Division while Harding falls into second place.

The Golden Suns defense held the Lady Bisons to 33 kills on 126 attempts with 19 errors for a .111 hitting percentage. Arkansas Tech had four players that ended with double-figure digs, leading the way was junior defensive specialist Brennae Benda who had 20. Junior outside hitters Laura Farney added 17 and Thabata Galvao added 10.

The Golden Suns had 45 kills on 112 attempts with 12 errors for a .295 hitting percentage. Arkansas Tech was led on offense by senior middle blocker Sarah Von Lienen who had 14 kills.

Senior defensive specialist Emily Tate, reigning GSC West Division Defender of the Week, had 20 digs for the Lady Bisons. Harding was led on offense by two freshmen outside hitters, Mollie Arnold and Lisa Copeland, who each had nine kills.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Friday as they host Alabama-Huntsville at 7 p.m., in the Rhodes Field House in non-conference action.
