SEARCY – Junior forward Paola Eusse headed in a corner kick in double overtime to lift the Harding women's soccer team over Drury 1-0 Tuesday night in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons move to 7-8-1 on the season.
Senior midfielder Brianna Meek sent a perfect ball just inside the six-yard box to allow Eusse to get her head on it for the game winning goal. Eusse's goal was her seven on the season and it was her second game-winning goal of her career.
The Lady Bisons had a chance to put the game away in the first overtime when senior defender Hayley Withrow found the back of the net in the 97th minute but the goal was disallowed because offsides was called on Harding.
Harding's senior goalkeeper Chelsea Hornbeck picked up her first shutout of the season and her first since the Lady Bisons defeated Division I opponent Grambling state 2-0 in 2008. Hornbeck had seven saves on the night.
Drury (8-8-2) outshot Harding 16-11.
The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Friday as they host Ouachita Baptist in the final home Gulf South Conference match at 5 p.m., at the Harding Soccer Field. After the game, Harding will recognize eight seniors for their contribution to the Lady Bison soccer program.
