St. Louis, Mo. – The Harding Volleyball team fell to Missouri-St. Louis 3-1 and No. 4 Washburn 3-0 on Friday in the Tritons Classic in St. Louis, Mo. Harding falls to 4-2 on the season.
In the first game, Harding committed 33 errors as they fell to host team Missouri-St. Louis, 3-1. It was Harding's first loss of the season. The Lady Bisons had 51 kills on 157 attempts for a .115 hitting percentage.
Freshman outside hitter Mollie Arnold picked up her third career double-double with a career-high 20 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Reagan Smith added 11 kills for Harding. Senior defensive specialist Emily Tate had 15 digs to lead the Harding defense.
Missouri-St. Louis was led by Weslie Gaff who had 13 kills. Carolyn Holstein led the Tritons defense with 28 digs.
In the second match, Harding fell to the fourth-ranked Washburn, 3-0. Smith led Harding with 13 kills. The Lady Bisons had a season low 35 kills and a .087 hitting percentage in the match. Tate and Arnold led the HU defense, each ending with 11 digs.
Breanna Lewis led Washburn with 10 kills on 17 attempts with one error for a .529 hitting percentage.
On Saturday, Harding will face Illinois-Springfield at 11:30 a.m. and then close out the tournament against Southern Indiana at 4:30 p.m.
