Volleyball Defeats Illinois-Springfield but falls to Southern Indiana

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Harding volleyball team went 1-1 to close out the Triton Classic hosted by Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday in St. Louis, Mo. The Lady Bisons defeated Illinois-Springfield 3-0 but fell to Southern Indiana 3-1. Harding moves to 5-3 on the season.

In the first match against Illinois-Springfield, freshman outside hitter Mollie Arnold led the Harding offense with 21 kills on 33 attempts with two errors for a .579 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Samantha Anderson had a season-high 14 kills in the match and ended with a .619 hitting percentage.

Senior defensive specialist Emily Tate had 16 digs to lead the Harding defense.

Sophomore setter Amber Schinzing captured a double-double in the match with 27 assists and 10 digs.

Harding had 50 kills on 133 attempts with 13 errors for their season-high .300 hitting percentage.

In the second match against Southern Indiana, Arnold once again led the Harding offense and captured a double-double with 18 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Reagan Smith added 10 kills for Harding.

Despite the loss, Harding had a season-high 78 digs in the match. Harding was led by Tate who had 22 digs. Schinzing added 14 digs and junior defensive specialist Amber Parker added 11 digs.

Danielle LeGrange led Southern Indiana with 20 kills. Harding forced 25 Southern Indiana hitting errors in the match.

Harding will be back in action Thursday, as they travel to Huntsville, Ala., to face Alabama-Huntsville at 6 p.m.
