TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – A late goal lifted Northeastern State over the Harding women's soccer team 2-1 Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action. Harding falls to 1-5-1 on the season.
With four minutes remaining in the game, Riverhawk Rachel Sordahl chipped it just out the reach of the Harding goalkeeper for the game winning goal.
The Northeastern State defense only allowed two Harding shots in the second half.
Seven minutes into the game, Northeastern State got on the board first when Carina Martinez found Celeste St. Gemme off a corner kick to put the Riverhawks up 1-0.
It didn't take long for Harding to answer. In the 20st minute, junior forward Paola Eusse found fellow forward Chelsea Brandon just outside the five yard box for the equalizer. It was Brandon's second goal of the season and her second consecutive game she has found the back of the net.
Northeastern State outshot the Lady Bisons 16-5.
Harding opens Gulf South Conference play on Friday as they travel to Huntsville, Ala., to face Alabama-Huntsville at 1 p.m.
