Lady Bison Soccer Posts 3-0 Shutout at Delta State

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Harding women's soccer team picked up their second Gulf South Conference victory Sunday afternoon after defeating Delta State 3-0. It was the second consecutive year Harding has shutout Delta State. Harding moves to 3-5-1 overall and 2-0 in the GSC.

After a scoreless first half, the Lady Bisons scored four minutes in the second half when senior defender Hayley Withrow headed in a cross by freshman forward Adriana Lucar for her for first goal of the season.

In the 61st minute, senior midfielder Brianna Meek took a shot from 30 yards out that hit the edge of the post and bounced the right way for her first goal of the season. Freshman defender Hannah Hatcher assisted the goal, the first of her career.

Harding sealed the win in the 85th minute when senior forward Meghan Przeczewski found the back of the net for her first goal of the season.

The Lady Bisons defense held Delta State (3-6-0, 0-2 GSC) to only seven shots, four on goal. Harding took 26 shots, 10 on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Chelsea Hornbeck picked up her 11th career shutout and had four saves in the match.

Harding will be back in action Friday as they host Lambuth at 4 p.m., at the Harding soccer field.
