SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team continues Great American Conference action on Saturday as they host East Central at 2 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons head into the match with a 17-6 overall record and an 8-2 GAC record.
HU looks to rebound off a disappointing loss at Ouachita Baptist on Thursday. The Lady Bisons are second in the GAC standings. The regular season conference champion hosts the conference tournament.
Harding is led by sophomore outside hitter Mollie Arnold who averages 3.55 kills and 3.57 digs per set. Sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Short leads the Lady Bisons in hitting with a .307 hitting percentage.
The Harding defense is led by sophomore defensive specialist Weslynn Williams who averages 4.44 digs per set.
The Lady Bisons already have more blocks this season (210 total, 45 solo) than they had all last season (193 total, 46 solo). Short leads HU with 66 total blocks, 19 of them are solo blocks.
East Central heads into the match with an 8-12 overall record and a 4-4 GAC record. The Lady Tigers are led by Noelle Cope who averages 3.49 kills per set. ECU is led on defense by Megan Kimak who averages 5.37 digs per set.
Harding leads the series between the two teams 2-0. The Lady Bisons defeated the Lady Tigers 3-1 earlier this season in Ada, Okla. The match on Saturday will be the first time East Central has played in Searcy.
