SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team travels to Magnolia, Ark., on Thursday to face Southern Arkansas in Great American Conference action at 7 p.m. The Lady Bisons head into the match with a 19-6 overall record and a 10-2 GAC record.
Harding is currently in second place in the GAC standings after defeating Arkansas-Monticello 3-0 on Tuesday night.
The Lady Bisons are led by sophomore outside hitter Mollie Arnold who averages 3.91 kills and 3.49 digs per set. Sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Short leads HU in hitting with a .305 hitting percentage.
The Harding defense is led by sophomore defensive specialist Wesynn Williams who averages 4.43 digs per set. The Lady Bisons have three players that have over 50 blocks on the season. Leading the way is Short who has 68. Junior right-side hitter Bailee Graham and senior middle blocker Alex Smith each have 56.
Southern Arkansas heads into the match with a 15-11 overall record and a 6-5 GAC record after falling to Arkansas Tech on Tuesday 3-0. The Lady Muleriders are led by Jordan White and Courtney Smith who each average 2.97 kills per set. SAU is led on defense by Kahli Remy who averages 3.91 digs per set.
Harding leads the series between the two teams 37-27. When the two teams met in Searcy earlier this season, the Lady Bisons defeated the Lady Muleriders 3-0.
