Volleyball Defeats Southern Arkansas for 20th Win of Season

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Senior defensive specialist Amber Parker had a career-high 34 digs as the Harding volleyball team defeated Southern Arkansas 3-2 in Great American Conference action on Thursday. The Lady Bisons improved to 20-6 overall and 11-2 in the GAC.

The win marked the 13th time since joining the NCAA in 1997 that Harding has won 20 or more matches in a season.

Parker's digs tied for fourth most all-time by a Harding player and the most this season. The last time a Lady Bison finished with more than 33 digs was when Emily Tate (2007-10) had 36 against Henderson State in 2010.

Two other HU players finished in double-digit digs in the match, sophomore outside hitter Mollie Arnold had 21 and sophomore outside hitter Lisa Copeland had 11. It was the fourth time in Arnold's career she ended with 20 or more digs in a match.

The Harding offense was led by Arnold who had 19 kills. Junior right-side hitter Bailee Graham and freshman outside hitter Kalyn Helton each had 12 kills. Graham led the Lady Bisons in hitting with a .524 hitting percentage.

Southern Arkansas (15-12, 6-6 GAC) was led by Jordan White who had 15 kills. The Lady Muleriders were led on defense by Kahli Remy who had 29 digs. Becca Pate captured a double-double with 14 kills and 23 digs.

The Lady Bisons will have the week off before hosting Arkansas Tech next Thursday Oct. 27 at 7 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House. The Golden Suns are currently in first place in the GAC standings.
