SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team swept Southeastern Oklahoma St., 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Great American Conference action on senior day. The Lady Bisons improved to 23-7 overall and 13-3 in the GAC.
With the win, the Lady Bisons finished in second place in the GAC standings and will play Southwestern Oklahoma St. next Friday (Nov. 11) in Russellville, Ark., in the first round of the GAC Tournament at 2:30 p.m. Arkansas Tech won the regular season conference championship and will host the tournament.
Harding was led by sophomore outside hitter Mollie Arnold who captured a double-double with a match-high 16 kills and 12 digs. It was Arnold's 19th double-double of the season.
The Lady Bisons defense was solid in the match with 81 digs and seven total team blocks. Four Harding players finished in double-figure digs; leading the way was senior defensive specialist Amber Parker who had 20 digs. It was the third-straight match Parker has finished with 20 or more digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Weslynn Williams finished with 13 digs and sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Short had a career-high 11 digs. Short also led the Lady Bisons at the net with four blocks.
Southeastern Oklahoma St., (14-18, 10-6 GAC) was led by senior Lunden Azuara who had 12 kills and a match-high 21 digs.
After the match, the Lady Bisons honored three seniors (Amber Parker, Alex Smith and Jordan Smith) for their contribution to the Harding volleyball program.
