CONWAY, Ark. – Sophomore forward Adriana Lucar scored her third goal of the game in overtime to lift the Harding women's soccer team over Hendrix 3-2 on Sunday in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons improved to 2-3 on the season.
After being tied 0-0 at halftime, Lucar stole the ball away from the Hendrix defense in the 50th minute and went one-on-one with the goalkeeper. She found the back of the net for her first goal of the game.
Hendrix evened the game at one in the 66th minute when Kerry Moon found the back of the net off a rebound shot by Rebecca Rahn.
Five minutes later freshman midfielder Anne Fitzgerald found Lucar off a corner kick for her second goal of the day.
The Warriors again evened up the game in the 79th minute when Hannah McGraw scored on a free kick from 40 yards out.
Harding had two corner kicks at the end of regulation but both chances ended with a foul being called on the Lady Bisons.
Eight minutes into overtime, freshman midfielder Mirlinda Lushi found Lucar for the game-winning goal. It was her sixth goal of the season and the second time in her career that she has had three goals in a game since she conquered the feat last season against West Georgia.
Harding took a season-high 29 shots in the contest to Hendrix's 15. Lucar took 15 shots, nine of goal. Her total shots were the second most by a Lady Bison in a game.
Harding improved to 7-8-13 in games that go into overtime.
HU goalkeeper Danielle Nonaka had seven saves in the game, tying a season high.
The Lady Bisons will have the week off before traveling back to Conway to face Central Baptist at 5 p.m.
