SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The 23rd ranked Harding volleyball team fell to Drury on Monday 3-1 in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons fall to 14-2 on the season.
Errors proved costly for Harding as they had 23 hitting errors and eight service errors in the match.
Drury (9-5) had 52 kills with 14 errors on 128 attempts for a .297 hitting percentage. It was the highest percentage the Lady Bisons have given up all season.
After trailing for much of the first set, the Lady Bisons tied the set at 22 on a kill by Short. Drury took three of the next four points to take the set, 25-23.
The second set belonged to Harding. The Lady Bisons found themselves down in the middle of the set 10-7 but rattled off 10 straight points on seven kills to go ahead 17-10. HU took the set 25-14.
Harding couldn't battle back in sets three and four as Drury took advantage of the Lady Bisons errors to take set three 25-15 and set four 25-17.
The Panthers had three players that finished with double-figure kills. Sara Borneman led Drury with 14, Amanda Watson had 11 and Ali Rook had 10.
Harding also had three players in double-figure kills. Sophomore outside hitter Mollie Arnold had a match-high 16 kills. Sophomore middle blocker Alyssa Short and freshman outside hitter Kalyn Helton each had 10 for HU.
Sophomore defensive specialist Weslynn Williams was the only Harding player in double-figure digs with 11.
Harding continues their two game road trip as they travel to Russellville, Ark., to face Arkansas Tech on Thursday at 7 p.m., in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons are currently tied with the Golden Suns for first place in the GAC.
