MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Harding volleyball team moved to 8-0 in Great American Conference action on Tuesday as they defeated Arkansas-Monticello 3-0. HU Harding won 25-18, 25-22 and 25-15 and is now 18-6 overall.
The Lady Bisons gained sole possession of first place in the GAC standings after a Southern Arkansas loss to Arkansas Tech on Tuesday. SAU fell to the Golden Suns 3-1. The Lady Muleriders were 8-0 and were tied with HU for first place before Tuesday.
It was the fourth-straight win by the Lady Bisons. In the four matches, HU has given up only one set. Harding defeated Northwest Missouri State 3-1 on Oct. 6th.
Junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold led Harding with 16 kills. She also had nine digs. Sophomore outside hitter Marindia Turner had 13 kills and led the team in hitting with a .480 hitting percentage. Senior setter Amber Schinzing had 43 assists.
Sophomore defensive specialist Taryn Eubank led the HU defense with 10 digs.
Arkansas-Monticello (8-16, 4-5 GAC) was led by Amy Kleypas who had seven kills and 12 digs.
Harding held UAM to a .110 hitting percentage. The Lady Bisons forced 20 hitting errors.
HU will be back in action on Thursday as they host Northwestern Oklahoma State in non-conference action at the Rhodes Field House at 7 p.m.
