SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Ouachita Baptist on Friday in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons dropped to 6-7-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the GAC.
Harding fell to fourth place in the GAC standings Friday and is one point ahead of East Central. The top four teams will advance to the conference tournament on Nov. 2-4. The Lady Bisons have two conference games remaining. HU will travel to first place Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday and then travel to last place Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday.
Ouachita Baptist (9-5-0, 4-4-0 GAC) got on the board in the 29th minute when Morgan Pitchford found Jessica Allen on a short throughball up the middle. Allen tapped in her fourth goal of the season.
Exactly one minute later, Allen found Pitchford on a throughball from midfield that forced HU keeper Danielle Nonaka out of her box. Pitchford chipped it over the goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season.
Pitchford got her second assist of the game in the 70th minute when she found Sarah McKimmey on a throughball up the right side. McKinney's shot was to the upper right corner of the net for her second goal of the season.
Harding took 14 shots with six on-goal. It was the second time this season Harding has failed to score when they have taken more than 10 shots. HU took 16 shots in a 0-0 tie against Delta State.
Harding will have the week off before traveling to Weatherford, Okla., to face ninth-ranked Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
