Volleyball Hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team looks for their sixth-straight win on Saturday as they host Southwestern Oklahoma State in Great American Conference action Tuesday at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons look to improve on an 8-0 conference record.

Harding is in sole possession of first place in the GAC standings. Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Tech are both tied for second. The regular season champion will host the conference tournament.

The Lady Bisons (19-6) are coming off a 3-0 non-conference win over Northwestern Oklahoma State on Thursday. It was the second-straight match Harding hit over .300. The Lady Bisons had 42 kills on 93 attempts with 10 hitting errors for a .344 hitting percentage. Harding was led by junior middle blocker Alyssa Short and senior right-side hitter Bailee Graham who both had eight kills. Graham hit .583 had one error on 12 attacks, and Short hit .500 also with one error on 14 attacks.

HU is led by junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold who ranks first in the GAC in kills with a 4.00 per set average. The Lady Bisons are led on the defensive end by junior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland who averages 4.44 digs per set.

Southwestern Oklahoma State heads into the match with a 8-16 overall record and a 6-2 GAC record. The Bulldogs are in fourth place in the GAC standings.  SWOSU has won four straight conference matches. Their last conference loss came against Southern Arkansas (3-1). The Bulldogs are led by Alison Cole who averages 2.14 kills per set.

Harding leads the series between the two teams 5-0.
