SEARCY – Overtime has proven to be the Lady Bisons strong point this season but on Tuesday the Harding women's soccer team didn't get the result they were looking for. HU tied Delta State 0-0 in non-conference action at the Harding Soccer Field.
The Lady Bisons are 3-0-2 in overtime games this season. It's the most overtime games the Lady Bisons have played in since the program began in 1998. Harding has played in four, two times (2010 and 2004).
Harding led the shot battle with 16 shots, 10 on goal. Delta State (2-7-1) took 12 shots, seven on frame.
The Lady Bisons had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation but the shot by freshman forward Larkin Hatcher hit the crossbar. Hatcher led HU with four shots in the game.
In the 99th minute, DSU's Meredith Wilkes took a shot that was saved by HU goalkeeper Danielle Nonaka. It was the only shot by either team in the first overtime.
Both teams had chances for the game winner in the second overtime. Delta State's Erin Tucker had a header that was saved in the 107th minute and HU's Erin Haltiwanger had a shot that was saved in the 109th minute.
Harding will continue Great American Conference action this weekend as they host Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday at 7 p.m., and Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
