Volleyball Hosts Southern Arkansas in Key GAC Match Tuesday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team looks to remain perfect in Great American Conference play Tuesday as they host Southern Arkansas at 7 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons head into the game with a 20-6 overall record and a 9-0 GAC record.

Harding is in sole possession of first place in the GAC standings. Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Tech are tied for second. The regular season champion will host the conference tournament Nov. 15-17th.

The Lady Bisons have won their last six-straight matches and are 7-0 at home this season.

Harding is coming off a 3-0 win over Southwestern Oklahoma State last Saturday. Middle blockers Liv Savage and Alyssa Short led HU with 10 kills apiece. Short led the Lady Bisons in hitting with a season-high .562 hitting percentage. Harding hit for a season-high .396. It was the third-straight match HU has hit over .300. Harding had 45 kills on 91 attempts as they tied a season-low with nine hitting errors.

Harding is led by junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold who ranks first in the GAC kills per set with a 3.97 average. Senior setter Amber Schinzing also ranks first in the GAC in assists per set (10.98).

Harding ranks first in the GAC in two categories – opponent hitting percentage (.142) and kills (13.66). The Lady Bisons also rank second in two categories – hitting percentage (.222) and assists (12.61).

Southern Arkansas (17-7, 8-1 GAC) is coming off a 3-0 loss to Dallas Baptist last Saturday. SAU's only conference loss came against Arkansas Tech (3-1). The Lady Muleriders are led by Denise DeVine who averages 3.14 kills and 3.07 digs per set. Southern Arkansas has compiled a 9-1 road record this season.

Harding leads the series between the two teams 39-27. HU has won the last 18 meetings. The Lady Bisons last win was in the semifinals of the GAC tournament last season.
