Lady Bison Volleyball Defeats Ouachita Baptist 3-0 on Thursday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team improved its Great American Conference record to 11-0 on Thursday as they defeated Ouachita Baptist 3-0 at the Rhodes Field House. Harding remains in first in the GAC standings.

It was the eighth straight match Harding has won. Harding also improved to 9-0 at home.

The Lady Bisons (22-6) won the first set 25-17 but struggled in the second set. Ouachita Baptist went on a 5-0 run midway through the second set and took a 20-16 lead on three HU errors. Harding battled back on a 6-2 run to tie the set at 23. Harding took the set 25-23 on a kill and ace by sophomore outside hitter Marindia Turner.  HU took set three 25-10.

Turner led the Lady Bisons with 16 kills and hit a match-high .577. It was the second straight match Turner has had over 10 kills. She had 12 against Southern Arkansas on Tuesday.

Junior Lisa Copeland and sophomore Taryn Eubank each had 12 digs for HU.

Ouachita Baptist (7-15, 4-7 GAC) was led by Keely Howk who had six kills. Allison Frizzell led the OBU defense with 12 digs.

Harding hit .267 and held the Lady Tigers to a .056 hitting percentage. HU forced 20 OBU hitting errors.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action next Tuesday as they travel to Arkansas Tech. First serve is at 7 p.m.
