Harding Plays Southeastern Oklahoma State in First Round of GAC Tournament

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team is set to host the 2012 Great American Conference Tournament Nov. 15-17. HU will play Southeastern Oklahoma State at 5 p.m., in the first round on Thursday. The Lady Bisons earned the right to host after winning the conference regular season with a 14-0 record.

Harding heads into the tournament with a 25-6 record and are perfect at home this season with a 9-0 record. The Lady Bisons have won their last 10 matches, eight of which they won 3-0.

HU is led by junior outside hitter and GAC Player of the Year Mollie Arnold who averages a conference best 3.99 kills per set. She also averages 2.93 digs per set. Arnold was also named to the All-GAC first team.

Senior setter Amber Schinzing also leads the conference in assists per set with an average of 11.07. Schinzing was also named to the All-GAC first team.

Southeastern Oklahoma State heads into the tournament with a 5-27 record. The Savage Storm will be the eighth seed in the tournament after going 3-11 in conference play. SOSU is led by Emily Gentle who averages 3.08 kills per set and 2.50 digs per set.

Harding leads the series 14-0. When the two teams met earlier this season in Durant, Okla., the Lady Bisons defeated the Savage Storm 3-0. It was the only time this season the two teams met.

Match: 4 - (4) Southwestern Oklahoma State vs. (5) Ouachita Baptist, 7:30 p.m.

Winner of Match 3 vs. Winner of Match 4, 6 p.m.

Saturday

Championship at 2 p.m.
