Volleyball Heads to Henderson State on Tuesday

SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team opens Great American Conference action on the road Tuesday as they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Henderson State. The Lady Bisons head into the match with a 6-3 record.

HU went 3-1 last weekend at the Southwest Baptist Tournament. Harding fell to Texas A&M-Kingsville (3-0) in the tournament opener but went on to defeat Christian Brothers (3-0), Saint Leo (3-0) and Pittsburg State (3-2).

The Lady Bisons are led by junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold who leads the GAC with 3.94 kills per set. She also is second on the team in digs, averaging 2.31 per set. Senior setter Amber Schinzing ranks second in the conference in assists (10.44 aps).

The Harding defense is led by junior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland who averages 4.53 digs, which ranks fifth in the GAC.

The Lady Bisons are averaging 1.75 blocks per set and are led by junior middle blocker Alyssa Short (0.88 bps).

Henderson State (2-6) went 1-3 last week in the Alabama-Huntsville Tournament. Their only win came against Union (3-1) in their final match.  HSU is led by Ty Lindberg (2.96 kills per set) and Lauren Ray (3.57 digs per set)

It will be the 64th meeting between the two teams. Harding leads the series 41-22.
