SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team starts a four-game road trip Thursday as they travel to Arkadelphia, Ark., to face Ouachita Baptist at 7 p.m., in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons head into the match with a 9-3 overall record and a 2-0 GAC record.
Harding will then travel to Arkansas-Fort Smith (Sept. 25), East Central (Sept. 28) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (Sept 29).
The Lady Bisons look for their seventh straight win and third straight conference win Thursday as they defeated Arkansas Tech 3-2 on Tuesday in Searcy.
Harding is led by junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold who leads the conference in kills per set (3.83).
Senior setter Amber Schinzing controls the HU offense averaging 10.33 assists per set, ranking her second in the GAC.
The Harding defense is led by junior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland who ranks fourth in the GAC in digs per set (4.44). The Lady Bisons rank fourth in the GAC in blocks per set (1.86) led by middle blockers Alyssa Short (0.93) and Liv Savage (0.79).
As a team, HU ranks second in the conference in hitting percentage (.204), opponent hitting percentage (.144), assists (12.07) and kills (13.33).
Ouachita Baptist (4-9, 1-1 GAC) is coming off a 3-0 conference win over Arkansas-Monitcello on Tuesday. OBU leads the GAC in digs, averaging 16.61 a match. The Lady Tigers have two players that average over two kills per set – Megan Askew (2.33) and Abby Pickett (2.06).
Harding leads the series 48-22. Ouachita Baptist defeated the Lady Bisons last season in Arkadelphia 3-1.
