Women’s Soccer Ties Southern Nazarene 2-2 on Sunday

BETHANY, Okla. – The Harding women's soccer team played to a 2-2 tie at Southern Nazarene in Great American Conference on Sunday. It was the third straight game the Lady Bisons have went into double-overtime.

Harding (2-3-1, 1-0-1 GAC) got on the board first in the tenth minute when junior forward Jenna Taylor found freshman midfielder Adair Schmidt who had a turnaround shot from 20 yards out. It was her second goal of the season.

Less than ten minutes later Southern Nazarene (3-3-1, 0-1-1 GAC) had the equalizer. Sherri Collins headed the ball to Kayla Thompson who found the back of the net for her third goal on the season.

The Crimson Storm took a 2-1 lead into halftime as Bekah Stewart dribbled down the right side and found the net in the 43rd minute.

Jenna Taylor tied the game in the 77th minute as the Crimson Storm goalkeeper was out of position. Taylor took a slow rolling shot that crossed the goal line before a Southern Nazarene position player could clear it.

With 13 minutes left in regulation, the Crimson Storm had three chances to score but the Harding defense didn't allow it; allowing only one shot was on frame.

In the first overtime, Southern Nazarene had the only shot on frame in the 98th minute when Harding goalkeeper Danielle Nonaka saved a shot by SNU's Kendra Nixon.

Harding's defense once again came through in the second overtime. With six seconds left, Sara Eguren took a shot that was saved by Nonaka.

Sophomore Danielle Nonaka had 10 saves for the Lady Bisons. It was the fourth-straight game she has had 10 or more saves.

Harding was outshot 29-8 as 12 of Southern Nazarene's shots were on goal.

Harding will be back in action Tuesday as they host Central Baptist at 5 p.m., at the Harding Soccer Field.
