Volleyball Stays in First in GAC with Win at East Central

ADA, Okla. – The Harding volleyball team kept their Great American Conference record perfect Friday night as they defeated East Central 3-1. The Lady Bisons improved to 11-4 overall and 4-0 in the GAC.

Harding is currently tied with Southern Arkansas for first in the GAC standings. The Lady Muleriders defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State on Friday to improve to 4-0 in the GAC.

East Central fell to 5-10 on the season and dropped their first conference match, falling to 3-1 in conference.

Harding took the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-14 before dropping the third set 25-18. The Lady Bisons went onto win the fourth by a close 27-25 score.

Junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold led Harding with a match-high 18 kills and 13 digs. Senior setter Amber Schinzing finished with her second-straight double-double with 44 assists and 13 digs.

Junior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland led the HU defense with 14 digs. Sophomore middle blocker Liv Savage finished with four blocks for the Lady Bisons.

East Central was led by Tatiana Booth who hit for a match-high .474 hitting percentage and had 10 kills. Megan Hammond led the Tigers defense with 21 digs.

Harding forced East Central to nine service errors and 23 hitting errors.

The Lady Bisons will continue GAC action Saturday as they travel to Durant, Okla., to face Southeastern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m.
