DURANT, Okla. – The Harding volleyball team improved to 5-0 in the Great American Conference after defeating Southeastern Oklahoma State 3-0 on Saturday. The Lady Bisons remain tied with Southern Arkansas for first place in the GAC.
It was the second match Harding has swept in conference play. HU defeated Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark. earlier this season.
Harding completed the Oklahoma road trip 2-0, as they defeated East Central 3-1 on Friday.
Sophomore middle blocker Liv Savage led the Lady Bisons as she tied a career-high with 12 kills. She also hit for a match-high .526 hitting percentage with only two hitting errors on 19 attempts.
Junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold finished with a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs. Junior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland also had 17 digs for HU.
Senior right-side hitter Bailee Graham led Harding at the net with four blocks.
Harding jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the first set on back-to-back kills by Liv Savage. The Lady Bisons didn't allow Southeastern Oklahoma State to get any closer than three as they took the set 25-19.
SOSU took a 10-6 lead in the second set before the Lady Bisons mounted a comeback. HU forced four hitting errors as they went on a 7-0 to regain the lead, 22-14. Harding took the second set 25-17.
After a 5-1 lead in the third set, Harding didn't give up the lead the rest of the way as two back-to-back kills by Liv Savage gave HU the win, 25-18.
Southeastern Oklahoma State (2-12, 1-4 GAC) was led by Megan Kunkel and Emily Gentle who both had eight kills.
Harding will be back in action Tuesday as they host Henderson State at 7 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House.
