Arnold Leads Harding over Drury 3-0

SEARCY – Junior outside hitter Mollie Arnold had 14 kills as the Harding volleyball team defeated Drury 3-0 on Tuesday in the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons improve to 3-2 on the season.

As a team, Harding had 42 kills on 103 attempts with a season-low 13 errors for a season-high .282 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle blocker Liv Savage and Arnold both hit over .300 in the match.

The Harding defense was led by junior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland who had 12 digs. Junior middle blocker Alyssa Short led HU at the net with five blocks.

Senior setter Amber Schinzing controlled the HU offense in the match as she tied a season high with 41 assists.

Harding found themselves down midway through set one 15-10 but the Lady Bisons rallied and went on an 8-2 run behind six kills. HU then forced three straight Drury errors, to take set one 25-20. The Lady Bisons dominated from the first point in set two, taking an 11-4 advantage. The Panthers tried to rally but the HU defense didn't allow it. HU took the set 25-17. The third set was close midway through the set until Harding broke free going on a 6-2 run. Drury pulled to within a point, 15-14, until the Lady Bisons forced three hitting errors to take a 21-16 lead. Back-to-back kills by Short and Arnold gave HU the win, 25-20.

The Panthers (4-2) were led by Sara Borneman who had 12 kills.

The Lady Bisons will be back in action this weekend as they travel to Bolivar, Mo., to take part in the Southwest Baptist Tournament. HU will take on Texas A&M-Commerce and Christian Brothers on Friday and Saint Leo and Pittsburg State on Saturday.
