Lady Bison Volleyball Defeats Lyon 3-0

SEARCY – The Harding Volleyball team defeated Lyon 3-0 (25-12, 25-5 and 25-16) on Tuesday in non-conference action at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons improved to 12-5 on the season and are now 9-5 against non-conference opponents.

Harding has won 19 straight home matches dating back to the 2011 season.

Lyon (8-10) kept set one close until freshman setter Abigail Glosup served for the Lady Bisons. HU went on a 9-1 run to take a 13-7 lead as Harding forced five Lyon attack errors. The Lady Bisons closed the set with a 7-0 run as Harding had five kills, two by outside hitter Molly Howard.

Set two was all Harding as the Lady Bisons only allowed five Lyon points. HU opened the set with a 6-0 run on three HU kills and three Lyon errors. Harding took a 17-4 lead on a 6-0 run as HU forced three more Lyon attack errors. Lyon had eight total attack errors in the set. The Lady Bisons closed the set like the first one but this time on an 8-0 run as redshirt freshman Bianca Trevino tied a career-high with three service aces.

With most of Harding starters sitting in the third set, HU took a 4-1 lead on four straight kills by four different Lady Bisons. Lyon got within one (6-5) on a kill by sophomore outside hitter Mackenzie Sharp. HU scored nine of the next 12 points to take a 15-8 lead. HU didn't let Lyon get any closer than three the rest of the way as HU took the set 25-16.  

Harding was led by Howard who had a season-high nine kills. Junior outside hitter Marindia Turner had seven with no attack errors. Junior setter Taryn Eubank had 20 assists and tied a career high with three blocks.

Lyon was led by sophomore outside hitter Carson Ward who had six kills.

Harding will continue Great American Conference action this weekend as they host East Central on Friday and 7 p.m., and then host Southeastern Oklahoma at 2 p.m., on Saturday.
