Lady Bison Volleyball Ends Regular Season with 3-0 Win at UAM

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Harding volleyball team ended it regular season schedule with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-11 and 25-14) win over Arkansas-Monticello on Thursday in Great American Conference action. The Lady Bisons improved to 25-7 overall and 14-0 in the GAC.

Harding will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming GAC Tournament held in Hot Springs, Ark., Nov. 21-23. The Lady Bisons will play Arkansas-Monticello again on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. Live stats and live video will be offered for all the matches.

With the win, Harding extended is conference winning streak to 30 matches which dates back to the 2011 season. HU broke the previous record of 25 against Southwestern Oklahoma on Oct. 26.

The Lady Bisons had 12 service aces in the match led by senior outside hitter Mollie Arnold who had a career-high nine which is the most by a Harding player since HU joined the NCAA in 1997.

After leading 10-9 in the opening set, Harding went on a 6-0 run led by sophomore outside hitter Molly Howard who had three kills. HU extended its lead to 20-12 on a 3-0 run on two kills. Arkansas-Monticello tried to rally but the Lady Bisons lead was too much as HU won the set 25-20.

UAM stayed with HU in the opening points of the second set until Harding went on a 7-0 run on three service aces by Arnold. HU closed the set on a 5-0 run on two more service aces by sophomore defensive specialist Shelby Daniel.

Harding jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the third set on three more service aces by Arnold. The Cotton Blossoms cut the lead to three on a 3-0 run but the Lady Bisons quickly answered back with a 4-2 run. UAM cut the HU lead to two on a block by Tasha Evans. Harding only allowed Arkansas-Monticello to score to more points as they finished with set on a 12-2 run on three kills by senior middle blocker Alyssa Short.

The Lady Bisons were led by Marindia Turner who had 10 kills and three blocks. Junior middle blocker LIv Savage had a match-high five blocks.

Arkansas-Monticello (12-19, 2-12 GAC) was led by Tori Bozzo who had eight kills. Tusalava Kusea led the UAM defense with a match-high 12 digs.
