WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The Harding women's soccer team defeated Ouachita Baptist 1-0 in the Great American Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday at the Southwestern Oklahoma Soccer Complex. The Lady Bisons advance to finals on Sunday at 1 p.m., as they will face the winner of the Southwestern Oklahoma – East Central game.
It's only the second time in school history Harding (8-8-1) has advanced to the conference tournament finals. The Lady Bisons fell to Christian Brothers 4-3 in overtime in Oxford, Miss., in 2004.
It was Harding's sixth straight win and its first win at the GAC Tournament.
In the 13th minute, senior forward Jenna Taylor found sophomore midfielder Melissa Minnich in the box. Minnich beat the Ouachita Baptist goalkeeper one-on-one to get her second career game-winning goal. It was her third goal this season.
Ouachita Baptist (11-6-1) took 16 shots in the second half and finished with 25. Sophomore forward Hayley Hatcher led OBU with 10 shots. The Tigers only had four shots on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Miller recorded her fifth career shutout, all come this season.
