FLORENCE, Ala. – The Harding volleyball team defeated Missouri S&T 3-0 but fell to Northwood 3-2 in the final day of the North Alabama Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Bisons are now 5-4 on the season.
In the first match, senior outside hitter Mollie Arnold captured a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. Senior defensive specialist Lisa Copeland had a match-high 21 digs and junior setter Taryn Eubank set a career-high in service aces with five.
Harding only allowed Missouri S&T to 30 kills in the match.
The Miners' (4-4) defense was led by Cydney Denning who had 16 digs. Missouri S&T had nine blocks in the match
In the second match, Harding took the first and third sets but the Lady Bisons had 15 attack errors in the fourth set. Northwood took set four 25-15 and then the fifth 15-12.
Harding was led by Arnold who had 20 kill and 16 digs. It was the fifth time this season she has captured a double-double and the third time in the Tournament.
Eubank had a season-high 52 assists and Copeland had a season-high 27 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Shelby Daniel tied a career-high with 11 digs.
Northwood (5-3) was led by Julia Pakhomenko who had 19 kills. Elizabeth Barker had 25 digs and Birta Bjonsdottir had 22 digs.
The Lady Bisons open Great American Conference action on Tuesday as they host Henderson State at 7 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House.
