Lady Bison Soccer Falls in GAC Opener

SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Ouachita Baptist in Great American Conference action on Friday at Stevens Field. The Lady Bisons fall to 1-5-1 overall and 0-1-0 in the GAC.

With the score tied at 1-1, Ouachita Baptist (6-0-0, 1-0-0 GAC) got the game winning goal in the 81st minute when junior midfielder Abby Emanuel found freshman midfielder Kaitlin Asher on a cross from the right side to the middle of the field. Asher's shot found the middle left side of the goal. It was her first goal of the season.

Harding had a chance to tie the game at two apiece in the last minute of play when senior forward Jenna Taylor was fouled outside the top right corner of the box. Taylor's free kick went right to OBU goalkeeper Sarah Boyles who made the save to secure the win.

Ouachita Baptist got on the board first in the 31st minute when sophomore midfielder Audrey Rodriguez took a shot from 30 yards out that went up and over the HU goalkeepers hands and into the middle of the net.

Harding tied the game in the 55th minute when senior forward Jenna Taylor found sophomore midfielder Audrey Adkison in the middle of the box on a cross from the left side. Adkison's shot went to the upper left corner of the net.

Lady Bison goalkeeper Kaitlyn Miller had eight saves. OBU goalkeeper Boyles had seven saves.

Harding had 20 shots in the game, eight were on frame.

The Lady Bisons start a six-game road trip on Sunday as they travel to Cleveland, Miss., to face Delta State. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. HU's next home game isn't until Oct. 25 against Southwestern Oklahoma.
