SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team will travel to Rolla, Mo., to take part in the Missouri S&T Tri-Match on Saturday. The Lady Bisons will play Truman State at 3:45 p.m. and then face Missouri S&T at 7:30 p.m.
HARDING
Harding heads into the weekend with an 11-5 overall record.
The Lady Bisons have won their last two matches and are 3-2 on a neutral floor and 4-2 on the road this season.
Harding is coming off two Great American Conference wins this week. The Lady Bisons swept both Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State by a 3-0 score.
The Lady Bisons are led on the season by seniors Marindia Turner and Liv Savage who both average 3.04 digs per set. Savage also averages 1.14 blocks per set.
The Lady Bisons defense is led by sophomore defensive specialist Anne Leigh Cargile who averages 4.05 digs per set.
Away from the Rhodes Field House this season, Harding is averaging 12.9 kills and 16.9 digs. Turner and Savage both lead the Lady Bisons averaging 2.8 kills. Savage also averages 1.20 blocks. Senior setter Taryn Eubank averages 9.57 assists per set. Junior outside hitter Erica Heim and sophomore defensive specialist both average over three digs per set.
Harding is coached by Meredith Fear who is in her third season at the helm.
TRUMAN STATE
Truman State is located in Kirksville, Mo., and has an enrollment of 6,149. They also are a NCAA Division II member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Bulldogs head into the weekend with a 13-2 overall record. Truman State has won its last 11 matches and are receiving votes in the AVCA poll. Their losses came against Colorado Mesa (3-0) and Regis (3-0).
As a team, Truman State averages 13.5 kills and 17.4 digs. They are also hitting .246 on the season.
The Bulldogs are led by senior outside hitter Allie Brak and sophomore outside hitter Kayla Bastian who both average over three kills per set and both average over two digs per set. Senior defensive specialist Abby Moser leads the defense averaging 4.58 digs per set.
Truman State is coached by Ben Briney who is in his sixth season as head coach.
Truman State leads the series with Harding 5-0. The Bulldogs won the last meeting in 2012, 3-1. It was the only set Harding has ever won against Truman State. All of the five meetings have come at neutral sites.
MISSOURI S&T
Missouri S&T is located in Rolla, Mo., and has an enrollment of 8,642. They are also a NCAA Division II member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Miners head into the weekend with a 9-7 overall record. Missouri S&T is coming off a 3-0 conference win over Maryville last Saturday.
The Miners have four players that are averaging over two kills per set. Junior middle blocker Krista Haslag leads Missouri S&T averaging 2.55 kills and 1.12 blocks.
The Miners defense is led by junior defensive specialist Jackie Pyles who averages 4.36 digs per set.
Missouri S&T is coached by Jason Holt who is in his eighth season as head coach.
Harding leads the series over the Miners with a 3-1 record. The Lady Bisons have won the last two meetings. Harding won last season 3-0 in Florence, Ala. In the match, Marindia Turner had 10 kills for Harding and Liv Savage had six kills.
