ALVA, Okla. – The Harding women's soccer team defeated Northwestern Oklahoma 2-1 on Saturday in Great American Conference action. With the win, the Lady Bisons sealed a trip to the GAC Tournament held at the home of the regular season champion Nov. 7 and 9.
Harding improved to 5-10-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the GAC.
The Lady Bisons got on the board in the 10th minute when freshman forward Carley Stevens took a shot that was saved but pushed right back to her. Stevens collected the ball and found the back of the net for her first career goal.
Harding led 1-0 at halftime. The Lady Bisons took nine of their 15 shots in the first half.
The Lady Bisons sealed the win with a goal in the 62nd minute when junior midfielder Audrey Adkison was fouled in the box. Adkison converted the penalty kick for her team leading seventh goal of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Miller had a season-high nine saves for Harding.
Northwestern Oklahoma (6-7-3, 1-6-2 GAC) got on the board in the 88th minute when Jessica Lynch found Alyssa Williams off a corner kick.
The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Thursday as they travel to East Central for a 4 p.m., kickoff.
