SEARCY – Junior midfielder Melissa Minnich scored with 28 seconds left to play to give the Harding women's soccer team a 2-1 Great American Conference victory over Northwestern Oklahoma on Sunday. The Lady Bisons improved to 3-8-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the GAC)
Harding has now won eight straight GAC games dating back to last season and has won its last two games. The Lady Bisons defeated Southwestern Oklahoma 2-1 this past Friday in Searcy.
After being tied 0-0 at halftime, the Lady Bisons scored in the second minute of the second half. Junior midfielder Audrey Adkison sent in a cross from the right goal line that found the foot of junior midfielder Adair Schmidt. It was her third goal of the season.
Northwestern Oklahoma (4-4-2, 0-3-1 GAC) scored the equalizer less than two minutes later when Alyssa Williams took a shot that was saved but the Harding goalkeeper but she couldn't collect it which allowed Ellen Trotter to it clean up. It was her third goal of the season.
The Lady Bisons took 17 shots in the game, seven were on frame.
Harding junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Miller tied a season high with seven saves.
The Lady Bisons will be back in action on Thursday as they host East Central in GAC action at 5 p.m., at the Stevens Soccer Complex.
