SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team will host Ouachita Baptist on Tuesday in Great American Conference action at 7 p.m., at the Rhodes Field House. The Lady Bisons head into the match with a 9-5 overall record and a 4-2 GAC record.
Harding
Harding has won its last 26 home matches, dating back to the 2011 season. It is the second longest home winning streak in the Lady Bisons history. Harding won 36 between 2003 and 2005.
Harding is coming off a 1-1 performance in Oklahoma this past weekend. The Lady Bisons defeated East Central 3-0 last Friday in Ada, Okla. but fell to Southeastern Oklahoma 3-1 on Saturday in Durant, Okla.
The Lady Bisons are led on the season by junior outside hitter Marindia Turner who averages 3.04 kills which ranks eighth in the GAC. Harding's offense is spearheaded by senior setter Taryn Eubank who leads the GAC in assists, averaging 9.94 per set. She also ranks second in the GAC in hitting percentage (.325).
The Lady Bisons defense is led by sophomore defensive specialist Anna Leigh Cargile who averages 4.00 digs per set, ranking her seventh in the conference. Senior middle blocker Liv Savage ranks second in the GAC in blocks, averaging 1.14 per set. She also ranks second in conference in service aces (0.48 per set).
As a team, Harding ranks first in the GAC in digs (17.68 per set) and service aces (1.66 per set). The Lady Bisons rank second in assists (12.10 per set) and kills (13.32 per set).
Harding is coached by Meredith Fear who is in her third season at the helm.
Ouachita Baptist
Ouachita Baptist is located in Arkadelphia, Ark., and has an enrollment of 1,594.
The Tigers head into the match with a 10-4 overall record and a 3-3 GAC record. Ouachita Baptist has a 5-1 road record. Their only loss came at Southern Nazarene (3-0) last Friday.
The Tigers are led by sophomore outside hitter Jayme Shell who averages 2.02 kills per set and 3.10 digs per set. Sophomore defensive specialist Ashley Wake ranks sixth in the GAC in digs, averaging 4.21 per set.
As a team, the Tigers are averaging 11.5 kills per set and 16.7 digs per set.
