SEARCY – The Harding volleyball team will open its 2014 campaign on the road in Memphis, Tennessee on Friday and Saturday as it participates in the Christian Brothers Tournament. The Lady Bisons will take on Lindenwood on Friday at 11:30 a.m. and then face Alderson Broaddus at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Lady Bisons will face Drury at 2 p.m. and then take on Christian Brothers at 7 p.m.
Harding
Harding, who won the Great American Conference regular season in 2013, returns four starters and 11 letterwinners from last year's squad.
The Lady Bisons four starters include: senior setter Taryn Eubank (9.83 assists per set), senior middle blocker Liv Savage (2.08 kills per set), junior outside hitter Molly Howard (1.38 kills per set) and senior outside hitter Marindia Turner (2.50 kills per set).
Top newcomers for Harding include: freshman outside hitter Brooke Garcia (Spring, Texas), freshman middle blocker Baylee Bingaman (McKinney, Texas) and freshman outside hitter Taylor Mounts (Clovis, Calif.).
Meredith Fear returns for her third year as head coach of the Lady Bisons.
Lindenwood
Lindenwood, an NCAA Division II member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, is from St. Charles, Missouri, and has an enrollment of 11,904.
Lindenwood had a 9-21 record last season and finished 6-10 in the MIAA.
The Lady Lions returns their top hitter from last year, Kayla Guyot, who averaged 2.79 kills per set.
Lindenwood is coached by Ron Young who is in his 16th season.
It will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Alderson Broaddus
Alderson Broaddus, an NCAA Division II member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, is located in Philippi, West Virginia and has an enrollment of 826.
Alderson Broaddus finished last season with a 20-14 overall record and an 11-3 GMAC record and finished third.
Kayla Peterson returns as the setter for the Battlers. She averaged 8.46 assists per set.
Carrie Bodkins returns for her ninth season at the helm of Alderson Broaddus.
It will be the first meeting between the two teams.
Drury
Drury, an NCAA Division II member of the Great Lakes Valley Conference, is located in Springfield, Missouri and has an enrollment of 3,160.
The Panthers finished last season with 15-16 overall record and an 8-10 GLVC record.
Senior outside hitter Sara Borneman is the top hitter returning for Drury. She averaged 3.36 kills per set last season. The Panthers also return their setter from last season, Brooke Antenen, who averaged 8.98 assists per set.
Drury is led by Jenifer Bahner who is in her first season.
Harding leads the series against the Panthers 9-5.
Christian Brothers
Christian Brothers, an NCAA member of the Gulf South Conference, will be the host team for the tournament and has an enrollment of 1,900.
Last season the Lady Bucs finished with a 15-19 overall record and a 9-9 GSC record which was good for fourth place.
Senior defensive specialist Brittany Toney is Christian Brothers' top returner from last season. She averaged 3.45 digs per set.
In-Sik Hwang returns for his 10th season at the helm of the Lady Bucs.
Harding leads the series against Christian Brothers 45-13.
