ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Harding women's soccer team suffered its first Great American Conference loss at Ouachita on Tuesday 4-2.
RECORDS
Harding falls to 12-3-2 overall and 9-1-1 in the GAC. Ouachita improves to 10-6-0 overall and 8-2-0 in the GAC.
GOALS
Ouachita 1, Harding 0 – 31st minute – Haley Hatcher stole the ball in the box and shot from eight yards out.
Ouachita 2, Harding 0 – 39th minute – Bryson Thomas hit a cross to Haley Hatcher who one touched it over to Marley Zochert for the goal.
Ouachita 3, Harding 0 – 44th minute – Haley Hatcher scored off a deflection in the box on a cross.
Ouachita 3, Harding 1 – 83rd minute – Rachel Bacon hit a cross that was headed by Bethany Sutherland to Ashley Sampson who found the back of the net.
Ouachita 3, Harding 2 – 85th minute – Bethany Sutherland scored off a rebound off a shot by Hannah Wilhelm.
Ouachita 4, Harding 2 – 89th minute – Marley Zochert hit a throughball to Haley Hatcher who scored.
TEAM STATS
The loss snapped a Harding 14 game unbeaten streak. During the streak, the Lady Bisons won 12 games and tied twice. It also snapped a seven game winning streak that began Oct. 3 at Northwestern Oklahoma.
Despite the loss, Harding stays in first place in the GAC standings. The Lady Bisons have a one point lead on second place Ouachita. The winner of the GAC regular season will host the conference tournament Nov. 5-7.
Harding took 24 shots in the game but only five were on frame.
Ouachita took 13 shots and six were on frame.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Bethany Sutherland scored her 19th goal of the season which tied the GAC mark set by Ouachita Tiger Haley Hatcher in 2013. It was also Sutherland fourth assist of the season. With the goal and the assist, she broke the Harding school record (40) and the GAC record (41) for the most points in a season with 42.
It was Rachel Bacon's and Hannah Wilhelm's first assist of the season.
Senior forward Haley Hatcher scored her 14th and 15th goals of the season for Ouachita. It was Marley Zochert's second goal of the season.
