Women’s Soccer Ties Ouachita on Tuesday

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Harding women's soccer team took seven shots in the second overtime but couldn't find the back of the net as the Lady Bisons tied Ouachita 2-2 on Tuesday in Great American Conference.

RECORDS

Harding moves to 9-6-1 on the season and 6-4-1 in the GAC. Ouachita moves to 7-7-2 overall and 7-3-1 in the GAC.

GOALS

Harding 1, Ouachita 0 – 8th minute – Bethany Sutherland took shot that hit the crossbar and fell right to Melanie Matkins for her first collegiate goal.

Harding 1, Ouachita 1 – 62nd minute – Bryson Thomas scored on a breakaway.

Ouachita 2, Harding 1 – 68th minute – Dina Harper sent in a cross that was headed by Tessa Woodcock into the back of the net.

Ouachita 2, Harding 2 – 89th minute – Bethany Sutherland found the back of the net for her team-leading 12th goal.

TEAM STATS

It was Harding's first overtime game of the season and its first tie since Oct. 1, 2015 when the Lady Bisons tied Southwestern Oklahoma 2-2 in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Harding is 2-0-2 against Ouachita in overtime games. In the last overtime game against the Tigers in 2012, Harding won 2-1.

Harding had 29 shots and Ouachita had 18.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Melanie Matkins led Harding with seven shots. Bethany Sutherland added six and Morgan Springborn had four.

Harding goalkeeper Jessica Woessner had eight saves to tie her career-high.

Barbara Pascale led Ouachita with four shots.

UP NEXT

Harding will be back in action on Thursday when it hosts East Central in its final regular season home game at 7 p.m., at the Stevens Soccer Field. After the game, the Lady Bisons will recognize Anna-Grace Kirkman, Averie Albright, Hannah Wilhelm, Melita Sutherland, McKenna Smith and Morgan Carter for their contributions to the women's soccer program.
