HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – The Harding volleyball team fell to Southeastern Oklahoma 3-2 (25-18, 13-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-9) on Thursday in the first round of the Great American Conference Tournament.
RECORDS
Harding the No. 1 seed falls to 21-8 overall and No. 8 seed Southeastern Oklahoma improves to 14-16. The Savage Storm advance to play Southwestern Oklahoma in the semifinals.
SET ONE HIGHLIGHTS
Harding jumped out to a 5-3 lead in the first set before giving up three straight points to trail 6-5. With the set tied at nine, Southeastern Oklahoma scored the next four points on four straight kills to lead 13-9. The Lady Bisons stayed close but couldn't overcome the deficit as Savage Storm won five of the last six points on four kills. Harding hit .114 in the set with 10 kills and five attack errors.
SET TWO HIGHLIGHTS
Harding took a 12-8 lead midway through the second set and only allowed Southeastern Oklahoma to score five more points as the Lady Bisons won 25-13. Harding had nine kills in the set and forced the Savage Storm to 11 attack errors.
SET THREE HIGHLIGHTS
Trailing 7-3, Harding went on an 8-1 run on seven kills to lead 11-8 in the third set. Southeastern Oklahoma battled back and pulled within one, 15-14, on a service ace. The Lady Bisons won the next six points to lead 21-14. Harding had back-to-back kills to win the set 25-18. The Lady Bisons had 20 kills in the set with only one attack error and hit .452.
SET FOUR HIGHLIGHTS
The fourth set stayed close early on until Southeastern Oklahoma went on an 8-2 run on five kills to lead 15-10. Harding couldn't get any closer than three as the Savage Storm won the set 25-20. The Lady Bisons had 14 kills but had seven attack errors in the set.
SET FIVE HIGHLIGHTS
With Harding leading 4-3 in the fifth set, Southeastern Oklahoma had three straight kills to lead 6-4. The Lady Bisons tied the set at seven on a kill by Sara Smith but Southeastern Oklahoma scored the next three points to lead 10-7. Up 11-9, Southeastern Oklahoma won the set scoring the next four points on three kills. Harding had nine kills in the set with no attack errors but Southeastern Oklahoma had 13 kills on 26 attempts to hit .500.
TEAM STAT
Harding went 0-4 in five set matches this season.
The Lady Bisons outhit Southeastern Oklahoma with a .263 attack percentage. The Savage Storm had 68 kills to Harding's 62.
Harding had 79 digs in the match with four players having over 10 digs.
INDIVIDUAL STATS
Harding was led by Zoe Hardin and Emily Clayton who each had 12 kills. Hardin, the GAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, had seven blocks and hit .462.
Abigail Glosup had 50 assists for the second time this season for the Lady Bisons.
Taylor Lake led the defense with 23 digs and Alex Nolan added a season-high 22 digs. Bianca Trevino had 13 digs and Madison Poen had 10.
Southeastern Oklahoma was led by Karine Cavalcante who had a double-double with 19 kills and 13 digs. Caitlin Cosby led the defense with 27 digs.
