MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Harding softball team fell in both games of a Great American Conference doubleheader on Saturday to Southern Arkansas 6-0 and 12-4 (5 innings). The Lady Muleriders took both games yesterday and won the series 4-0.
Harding falls to 25-17 overall and 17-13 in the GAC. Southern Arkansas improves to 31-4 overall and 23-4 in the GAC
Game One Key Innings (Southern Arkansas 6, Harding 0)
- Southern Arkansas scored one in the bottom of the first inning when Brooke Goad singled up the middle to pick up the RBI.
- The Lady Muleriders tacked on three more in the third when Goad hit a three run home run to left center field.
- Southern Arkansas made it a 6-0 game in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs on three hits.
Game One Key Statistics
- Southern Arkansas had nine hits in the game, led by Darian Harris, Brooke Goad and Chelsea Jordan who each had two.
- Harding had four hits by four different players.
- Kimmy Beasley got the win for the Lady Muleriders and improves to 16-1 overall. She threw the complete game and struck out eight.
- Hannah Johnson got the loss for Harding and falls to 12-5 on the season. She pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up two earned runs. Kelly Beth Ernest pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief. She gave up three hits and two earned runs.
Game Two Key Innings (Southern Arkansas 12, Harding 4 – 5 Innings)
- Harding got on the board first scoring three runs on four hits in the top of the first inning. Alexus Lawellin hit a solo home run to get things started and Kimmy Hendricks and Brookelynn Moon both singled in a run.
- Southern Arkansas answered back with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the inning, led by a Darian Harris two run home run.
- The Lady Bisons tied the game up in the bottom of the second when Marley Edwards hit a solo home run to lead things off.
- The Lady Muleriders scored six runs on four hits and a Harding error in the bottom of the second to lead 10-4.
- Southern Arkansas scored two more runs in the fourth on two hits.
Game Two Key Statistics
- Harding had five hits in the game by five different players.
- Southern Arkansas had 10 hits, led by Maddie Dow, Ashton Atwell and Liz Hudgins who each had two.
- Four different Lady Muleriders had two RBIs in the game.
- Kaylee Garner got the win for Southern Arkansas and improves to 15-3 on the season. She pitched four innings and gave up four earned runs.
- Kelly Beth Ernest got the loss and falls to 5-5 on the season in 1 2/3 innings of relief.
