Springborn’s Goal in Overtime Lifts Lady Bisons Over UAPB

SEARCY – Morgan Springborn scored in the first overtime to give the Harding women's soccer team a 3-2 victory over NCAA Division I opponent Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sunday in non-conference action. The Lady Bisons have won their last three games.

RECORDS

Harding improves to 3-1-0 on the season and Arkansas-Pine Bluff falls to 0-4-0.

GOALS

Arkansas-Pine Bluff 1, Harding 0 – 43rd minute – Jessica Cota assisted Rebecca Holmes for the first goal of the game.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2, Harding 0 – 54th minute – Rebecca Holmes picked up her second goal of the game off a pass from Cierra Fenwick.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2, Harding 1 – 74 minute – Bethany Sutherland found Meagan Ogburn for her first goal of the season.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2, Harding 2 – 75th minute – Emma Chilton found the back of the net for the third time this season off a pass from Sierra Phillips

Harding 3, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 2 – 96th minute – Rachel Bacon found Morgan Springborn for her team-leading fourth goal of the season. It was also her first game winning goal.

TEAM STATS

It was Harding's first overtime win since October 30th, 2014 when the Lady Bisons defeated East Central 1-0 in Ada, Oklahoma. Harding improves its record to 14-12-20 in overtime games.

It was also Harding's first win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Lady Lions now lead the series 2-1-1.

It was the Lady Bisons second overtime game this season. Harding fell to Missouri Western State 4-3 in overtime to start the season.

The Lady Bisons took 18 shots, 11 were on goal.

Five Harding players played the full 100 minutes of the game.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff took 12 shots and six were on goal.

INDIVIDUAL STATS

Sophomore Bethany Sutherland led the team with seven shots, three were on goal. Junior Morgan Springborn took four shots and three were on goal.

The Lady Lions goalkeeper Jordan Knorr had eight saves.
